Diving - Extending Exploration a Tad More

I just got my diving license a few days ago. I had the budget, time, and courage to finally do it after 4 years. Why take such a long time to do so? And should you be certified too? Let see if you’re in the same boat as I am.

-       If you’re coming to Indonesia, then you should dive! Indonesia is well known for it’s numerous dive spot spread through out the country. It is also located within the golden triangle of coral life. As for myself, being a citizen of this country, it’s too ironic not knowing what’s in front of my eyes.

-       If you’re here, then why not?

-       Some areas in Indonesia have more to offer than a singular purpose. Sometimes diving areas are close to surfing locations, traditional society, and great food! I realize many travelers come to Indonesia for a single purpose but, there is no harm in extending that purpose to get more out of life. Carpe Diem!

-       I had my fare share of snorkeling and seems like I’ve reached a point where I’ve become a snob to say ‘I think I get the picture’. It’s time to extend what I can see underwater, and time to realize I was dead wrong to be a snob!

-       I envy people being able to see sea creatures that are beyond my imagination and are alien like. I don’t like being envious of the same thing for the rest of my life.

-       It will drive me to travel more :) As my instructor recommend, I should dive at least every 4 months, wherever that may be. It’s about skills that you’re body needs to remember.

-       I also needed a more stable financial situation to help me support this new wonder of mine.  I’ve come to somewhat of that level, at least for the 4 months period. Hey… it’s a bit costly for an Indonesian, thank you!

Underwater world is such a different wonder. It's like some parallel world that can be ignorant to whatever is on land. So what did I learn from my first diving experience?

-       Sea creatures aren’t that afraid of you once you go deep, they tend to swim away on the surface. You’re in their territory now and so there is minimal that you can do. I guess they know that there is a high possibility that humans will catch them in shallow waters.

-       I’m quite comfortable claiming myself as spiritual. In the sea, I have come to realize (again) and is awed by how detailed nature is. It’s fascinating to see how nature had evolved so variously with shapes, sizes, and colours beyond imagination.

-       Do you ever wonder why we don’t have gills? I guess if we did, I could imagine how damaged the sea must be from all those greedy humans hehehehe…

So that was that on diving. I hope I get to use my skill soon on various trips in the future. Which I’ll definitely let you know in the future ;)
