    Sam Poo Kong (which means an ancestor with 3 great powers) temple in Semarang, Central Java, was built in admiration to the Admiral Cheng Ho of China's Ming Dynasty. The Chinese descendants in Semarang who had this temple built were mostly non-moslem, but the temple incorporates some features of Islamic attributes, in respect for the moslem Admiral.

    Kepulauan Riau or the Riau islands is one of the mini archipelagos in Indonesia. Being part of a topical country, you would guess that everything is green and filled with lush forest that grows on rich soil. Batam and the surrounding area apparently are not. The soil is red. It’s still rich soil but not the usual brown to black color. It was a something new for my eyes. Ain’t it vibrant?!

    I never really saw Jakarta as a beautiful city, well not that much at least. It’s far from being compared to Kuala Lumpur and Singapore as neighboring capital cities. But maybe I’ve been looking at it only from one perspective; from the core of the city. I never noticed it from another point of view.  Turns out, from the balcony of Pejaten Village Mall, Jakarta looks alright. This part of the city is still relatively green, and from this point, the trees give that calming feeling...

    We just came back from our trip to the Krakatau volcano, located at the strait between Sumatera and Java. It was an almost failed trip because of the weather. Almost! We finally made it at the last minute, when the sun and wind decided to be nice to us. Maybe it was because we had lost hope, maybe because it was so secluded, or maybe it was a sight of relief after having a bumpy 2 hours ride on a speed boat, but once we saw the baby volcano, man was it beautiful and majestic.
